Bryan Cranston is mourning RJ Mitte , his Breaking Bad TV son, after Mitte died at age 34, according to reports published recently. Cranston said he was in “deep despair” in an Instagram tribute, while authorities continue investigating the reported suicide. Cranston said he first met Mitte when Mitte was 14 and watched him grow from a teenager on the AMC series into an accomplished actor and disability rights advocate. Mitte played Walter White Jr., the son of Cranston’s character, Walter White, throughout Breaking Bad. A Lunch Plan That Will Not Happen Cranston said he and Mitte had been texting only weeks before Mitte’s death to arrange lunch. The planned reunion never happened, leaving Cranston to write that he loved Mitte and would miss him as a son. Mitte also used his public platform to push for stronger representation of performers with disabilities. Podcast host Joe Vulpis, who spoke with Mitte weeks before his death, described him as positive, kind, and genuine. Cranston ended his tribute by directing people in crisis to call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or visit 988lifeline.org.
