Donald Trump reportedly used an airport catering truck to leave Turkey during a July NATO summit after U.S. officials learned of a credible Iranian assassination threat, according to reports from The Washington Post and The New York Times. The alleged switch sent him toward Britain on a smaller military aircraft while journalists and staffers believed he was aboard another plane. Before the maneuver, Donald Trump had told reporters he would depart Turkey on July 8 aboard an older Air Force One jet. He also said he was skipping the newer Boeing aircraft gifted by Qatar, claiming the choice was “for old times sake,” while the Qatar jet underwent additional security upgrades. How Did the Alleged Plane Switch Work? Television crews reportedly filmed Donald Trump boarding the older presidential plane through a left-side door. The New York Times reported that Trump instead slipped away inside a vehicle normally used to transport airport food and supplies, then transferred to an Air Force C-32A bound for Britain. The reported operation allegedly kept journalists and some White House personnel on the older aircraft in the dark, turning them into accidental decoys. After arriving in Britain, Donald Trump reportedly switched back to the older Air Force One, appeared publicly on the tarmac, and later boarded the Qatar aircraft for the flight back to Washington, D.C.
