Kanye West is asking a judge to postpone his civil discrimination trial, currently scheduled to begin October 12, because of his Russia concert plans and unfinished pretrial work. West's legal team wants the case moved to May 17, 2027, or another date approved by the court. The lawsuit was filed by Benjamin Provo , a former security guard at Donda Academy who alleges he faced discrimination while working for West's school. Provo is seeking more than $23 million, according to the case details cited in the filing. Why Does Kanye Want More Time? West's attorneys claim Provo and his lawyer have not been cooperative during depositions and document discovery. The legal team argues that delays on the opposing side left too much preparation unfinished for an October trial, and West is also seeking sanctions against Provo and his attorney. West says he is scheduled to perform in Russia on October 10 and 11, just before the trial date. The concerts were initially expected at St. Petersburg's Gazprom Arena, but the venue reportedly withdrew last month, and the promoter had not announced a replacement location at the time of the filing. West's attorneys also identified Milo Yiannopoulos as someone with significant knowledge of the allegations, while saying his recent deportation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement has complicated access to him. The judge will decide whether West gets the courtroom calendar change he wants.
