Nicki Minaj 's husband, Kenneth Petty , is using an alleged 1994 letter in his defense against Jennifer Hough 's civil lawsuit, according to new court filings reported by TMZ. Petty claims Hough asked prosecutors to drop the rape charge and described her account as partly false. Hough's attorney denies she wrote the letter. Petty was convicted of first degree attempted rape in April 1995 after Hough accused him of attacking her when both were 16. In his latest filing, Petty also points to alleged changes in Hough's account about whether a weapon was involved and whether another person was in the room. What Does the Alleged Letter Say? The document attributed to Hough describes an argument after Petty allegedly asked to have sex again. The letter claims Hough said no, and that Petty then told her she could leave if she had sex with him, which she says she did because she was late for school. The alleged letter also says Hough later told a friend about the encounter, became upset when classmates and police got involved, and hoped to repair her friendship with Petty. Petty is presenting those statements as proof that Hough once withdrew or softened her accusation, but her attorney says the document is not Hough's signature and questions how a typewritten recantation from a 16 year old could have been produced without a parent. Hough sued Petty in 2021, claiming he had pressured her for years to publicly change her story. Petty calls the lawsuit a shakedown and is asking the court to dismiss it, arguing that Hough filed only after Petty became connected to Nicki Minaj, a famous and wealthy musician. Hough's attorney says the same defense strategy was rejected in the original case and will not succeed now.
