King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard announced a 2026 Australian tour featuring Sydney shows, a late night rave set and a two day Melbourne block party curated by the band. The run begins October 13 at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul and continues through October 17 and 18 at The Croxton in Melbourne. The group will play Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on October 14 with support from Xiao Xiao, then switch gears for a separate late show at Liberty Hall billed as a “rave set.” In Melbourne, King Gizzard will headline both nights of The Croxton Block Party with three hour performances, because apparently a standard set time was never going to cut it. Who Made the Block Party Lineup? King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard built the October 17 lineup around Japanese pop punk veterans Shonen Knife, Byron Bay psych act Babe Rainbow, Heavy Moss, B3LLY, Moktar, Techno666 and a modular synth performance from frontman Stu Mackenzie. The October 18 bill includes C.O.F.F.I.N, Glyconic, Gut Health, ORB, Public Figures and Moktar. The Croxton Block Party first launched in 2025, turning the venue’s carpark into a festival site. The band’s relationship with The Croxton dates back to its first show there in December 2015 and includes a 2016 residency plus a 2020 bushfire benefit. The event will also put money toward habitat restoration: according to the announcement, $1 from every Block Party ticket will support a Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre led project on Lungtalanana Island focused on bringing back the Bass Strait wombat and long nosed potoroo. The tour arrives as King Gizzard prepares Alien Metal , its 28th studio album, for release later this year on p(doom) Records following the single “Level 5.”
