On September 16, LeBron James announced a new restaurant investment in Mike’s Red Tacos, days after revealing his move from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers in July. The 41 year old NBA star is joining founder Mike Touma and the team behind Dave’s Hot Chicken as the taco brand expands nationwide. James said in a statement that he appreciates how tacos bring people together and praised Mike’s Red Tacos for creating an authentic experience with long term plans. The soon to be 24 season NBA veteran celebrated the deal on September 15 by digging into the chain’s birria tacos and posting a Taco Tuesday video on Instagram. LeBron James Really Means Taco Tuesday James has made his love of Mexican food part of his public persona, so this investment feels less like a random business detour and more like a very on brand play. LeBron James already has restaurant industry experience through investments in Blaze Pizza and Dave’s Hot Chicken. Food stories also run through James family lore. On a 2025 episode of Everybody’s Crazy, Savannah James recalled that LeBron James once tracked down KFC when she had a pregnancy craving for Akron style chicken and jojos, potato wedges that were not quite the same as the local favorite but still saved the moment.
