At this year’s Emmy Awards, Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay” won 14 prizes, including Outstanding Comedy Series, giving Matthew Rhys and the horror comedy a new single night record. The Katie Dippold creation surpassed “The Studio’s” 13 win benchmark and became the biggest comedy winner in Emmy history. The comedy record has changed hands four times since 2020. “Schitt’s Creek” first set the mark with nine wins, “The Bear” reached 10 in January 2024, then 11 in September 2024, and “The Studio” raised the bar to 13 in 2025. How Did Widow’s Bay Pull Off the Sweep? “Widow’s Bay” took home acting honors for Matthew Rhys , Kate O’Flynn , and Stephen Root . The series also won awards for writing by Katie Dippold , directing by Hiro Murai , and guest acting for Betty Gilpin . The remaining wins covered half hour series casting, original dramatic score, music supervision, production design, sound editing, and sound mixing. “Hacks” led all comedy series with 24 nominations, but “Widow’s Bay” claimed the winner’s crown, and its renewal for season two gives the spooky Apple TV hit a chance to defend the record while “The Studio” returns to the race next year.
