Netflix unveiled the first look at Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen as Patsy Ramsey and John Ramsey in The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey on Sept. 15, ahead of the series premiere on Dec. 10. The drama revisits the 1996 death of six year old JonBenét Ramsey and the investigation that remains unsolved. The released image shows McCarthy and Owen seated before a room packed with reporters, capturing the intense media scrutiny surrounding the case. The cast also includes Garrett Hedlund as Detective Steve Thomas, Alison Pill as Detective Linda Arndt, and Emily Mitchell as JonBenét. Why Is the Case Still Unsolved? According to Netflix Tudum, the series examines the case from several perspectives while tracing the speculation and grief that followed the national media frenzy. Investigators have received more than 21,016 tips, letters, and emails, yet no killer has been identified nearly three decades after JonBenét was found in the Ramsey family basement on Dec. 26, 1996. Netflix previously explored the case in its 2024 docuseries Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey, which revisited suspicion surrounding JonBenét's parents even though neither parent was ever arrested or charged. Patsy Ramsey died from ovarian cancer in 2006 at age 49 after publicly denying involvement in 1997, while John Ramsey, now 82, has said the family provided investigators with DNA, blood samples, financial records, and other requested materials.
