This week, Prime Video is streaming three standout new movies: Ryan Gosling ’s sci fi adventure “Project Hail Mary,” Aleshea Harris ’s 2026 directorial debut “Is God Is,” and Pascal Plante ’s unsettling crime film “Red Rooms.” The lineup moves from cosmic blockbuster to revenge thriller to psychological nightmare, giving subscribers a very good reason to press play. “Is God Is” arrived in May 2026 as Harris’s first feature film, adapted from her acclaimed 2018 stage play. The darkly funny thriller follows sisters played by Kara Young and Mallori Johnson as they pursue revenge against their father, played by Sterling K. Brown , after their mother, played by Vivica A. Fox , tells them to confront him for trying to burn them alive. Which Prime Video movie deserves your time? “Project Hail Mary” is the obvious crowd pleasing choice, pairing Gosling’s warm lead performance with a huge space adventure based on Andy Weir ’s novel. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller , screenwriter Drew Goddard , cinematographer Greig Fraser , and composer Daniel Pemberton give the film serious scale, while Rocky, voiced through puppetry by James Ortiz , steals the emotional spotlight. For something darker, “Red Rooms” follows a young woman played by Juliette Gariépy as she becomes consumed by a serial killer’s case. Plante directs the small scale crime drama with unnerving control, creating a film that lingers well beyond its credits, while Sandra Hüller singing “Sign of the Times” gives “Project Hail Mary” one more wonderfully unexpected pop culture receipt.
