Selena Gomez is pushing back against a $1.2 million lawsuit tied to Wondermind, the mental health startup she co-founded, after two companies filed claims Thursday alleging investor fraud. Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, called the allegations meritless in a statement issued to People on Saturday and said he plans to seek dismissal. The lawsuit names Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey , and Wondermind co-founder Daniella Pierson . According to the complaint, the founders allegedly misrepresented Gomez’s expected involvement, promised partnerships that never happened, and failed to deliver a planned app while the company struggled behind the scenes. What Does the Lawsuit Claim? The plaintiffs, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, allege that Gomez signed an agreement to perform services for the company but did not follow through. The complaint also claims investors were not told about problems including late employee payments until The Cut reported on Wondermind’s workplace conditions last year. Wondermind launched in 2021 as a platform built around mental health conversations, digital content, physical tools, and community support. Rosengart said Gomez will “vigorously defend” the claims, while Teefey separately denied the allegations in a statement to The New York Times; the lawsuit remains an active legal matter, not a finding of wrongdoing.
