Taylor Frankie Paul revealed how her unaired Season 22 run on The Bachelorette ended in a preview shared Wednesday by Hulu’s Get Real podcast. Paul told her The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives co-stars that she became engaged to finalist Doug Mason before reconnecting with ex Dakota Mortensen after filming. During the Season 5 clip, Jessi Draper , Mikayla Matthews and Mayci Neeley pressed Paul about the fantasy suites. Paul appeared to say she did not hook up with any contestants, then confirmed Mason proposed during production and that she accepted. So What Happened After the Proposal? Paul said the engagement was not part of the original plan and that Mason surprised her by getting down on one knee. Draper pointed out that Mason and Mortensen share the initials D.M. and both have ties to Idaho, details Paul said she only recognized after other people connected the dots. Paul also said she and Mortensen were texting about her return home, and Mortensen eventually came over after filming. ABC shelved Paul’s season in March, days before its planned premiere, after video surfaced of a 2023 domestic violence incident involving Mortensen that led to Paul’s arrest; the former couple later traded abuse allegations and disputed custody issues. In April, the Salt Lake County district attorney declined to file criminal charges against Paul, saying some reported incidents did not meet the threshold for criminal offenses and that the remaining claims lacked enough evidence to prove them beyond a reasonable doubt. The controversy also arrived as production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives paused during a separate Utah domestic assault investigation, according to a Draper City Police Department spokesperson.
